Shohei Ohtani is a Japanese professional baseball player who has redefined what a single athlete can do on a diamond. As a designated hitter and pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, he carries the nickname "Shotime" and a résumé that spans Nippon Professional Baseball and two American League stops. The media call him hot because his two-way dominance — hitting for power while taking the mound — has drawn comparisons to the early Babe Ruth, turning every start and at-bat into a live history lesson.

The Los Angeles Times reports his bat stayed hot while the Dodgers rattled off a fifth straight win, and ESPN adds that he will not need surgery, with the club expecting him to pitch again in 2027. The New York Times notes a pro wrestler sold a seven-figure Ohtani card to help his father, while the Bozeman Daily Chronicle relays the team's line that knee and biceps issues require only offseason rest. AP News says his next bullpen session waits on two aching spots, and ESPN Deportes and ESPN Colombia both echo the front office's vote of confidence in his two-way future.

Wikipedia page views hover around eight thousand a day, a quiet testament to how many people still refresh for updates on a player who refuses to choose one side of the game. The Dodgers say they fully expect him to remain a two-way force, and every headline — whether about a lineup return, a medical bulletin or a memorabilia windfall — circles back to the same pull: the spectacle of a modern athlete doing the impossible twice a week.
